Head of Consumer Insights: Integrated Ad Agency – Cape Town

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a gifted Head of Consumer Insights at an innovative integrated advertising agency’s Cape Town office. The agency, which has a strong foundation base of “Insights” is looking for a top notch and exciting candidate to head the Consumer Insights role. You’ll enjoy the privilege of working across a broad spectrum of accounts from alcohol brands, to FMCG, start-ups and financial services. This person needs to have a strong foundation and understanding of traditional consumer research (Qual and Quant) and has experience with creating, executing and working with various models and methodologies across both. The ideal candidate is someone who is actively trying to reform, push or progress the way we understand people, culture and humanity – from anthropology, to behavioural sciences to using data. The role calls for you to ensure that all work produced by the agency is strongly rooted in insights. You will be required to create new models, metrics and experiment with evolving methodologies as we push our need to find more effective ways to tap into consumers and communities. The right person will be excited by progress and innovation; will be frustrated by the constraints of traditional methods and will be eager to explore new innovations in the quest to produce ground-breaking work. Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyse data on customer demographics, preferences, needs and buying habits
  • Ensure that consumer segmentation is relevant and meaningful
  • Provide information to help identify position in the marketplace
  • Ensure that brands are positioned optimally
  • Identify potential markets and factors affecting product demand
  • Reporting and presentation of consumer analysis
  • Forecast and track marketing and sales trends, analysing collected
  • Develop & maintain scorecards and trackers for key brands on key metrics
  • Gather data on competitors and analyse their prices, sales and method of marketing and distribution
  • Measure effectiveness of marketing, advertising and communications programmes and strategies
  • Monitor industry statistics and follow trends in literature
  • Constant research and networking to gain understanding of future state of the market and opportunities within that grow the portfolio

 

Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Relevant Degree
  • 6-8 years’ relative experience
  • The ability to consistently generate consumer insights that drive category, portfolio and brand strategies and plans in order to create and maintain competitive advantage
  • The ability to critically interpret and translate market data to guide and influence marketing and brand strategies
  • The ability to ensure that each market research project is adequately developed, coordinated and recorded and provides valuable insight that can drive relevant action
  • The ability to optimise portfolio and brand profitability in a sustainable way and understand the key levers to achieve this
  • The ability to understand the company’s route to market, channel and customer strategies and their implications
  • Ensuring that brands and plans are tracked and measured in order to become a learning organization that can continually improve
  • Ability to simplify complex data into insight which inspires the team
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal) with strong presentation skills that influence decision makers to make key strategic business decisions
  • Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
