Senior Manager: Group Internal Communications: Financial – Cape Town/Johannesburg

A leading South African Financial Services Group is on the lookout for a passionate Senior Manager of Group Internal Communications to be based at either their Cape Town or Johannesburg offices. This exciting role sits at the hub of the Group’s operations that serves as the “glue” that keeps the Group together by providing strategic direction and support to all divisions assisting them in meeting their business objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a smart, hard-working internal communications strategy across the Group. This position will see you managing a super team of 4-5 staff members so someone with leadership skills is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an internal communications strategy aligned to the Group Communications strategy
  • Develop and implement action plans as per the internal communications strategy, including employee engagement (including staff activations), staff volunteerism and brand ambassadorship
  • Alignment of internal communications across the Group Provide guidance and support to businesses across the Group on internal communications
  • Develop and manage channels to effectively communicate corporate messages to all staff in a manner that is understandable, credible and enables staff to provide input
  • Develop and manage close working relationships with relevant internal stakeholders
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of the internal Communications strategy on reputation and brand amongst staff
  • Execute the Crisis Communications and Reputation management strategies as required (targeted at staff across the Group)
  • Knowledge management, including documenting case studies and best practice as well as alignment of external communications across the Group
  • Writing for and editing staff publications and overall management, including editing, of all Group internal media
  • Manage the Internal Communications budget
  • Team leadership: Manage the internal communications team, resources and service providers & Timely submission of management reports

 

 

Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Communication Science and/or Media Studies as major subjects
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in internal communication of which 5 years should be on a senior management level, preferably in a listed, Multinational organisation
  • Preferably some experience in a financial services company
  • Proven managerial skills
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience in a Corporate Communications department
  • Change management experience
  • Experience in Internal Communications/employee engagement will be an advantage
  • Experience in reputation and/or perception management will be an advantage
  • Experience in new media platforms
  • Sound knowledge of internal communication

  • Publishing using various digital and traditional media platforms
  • Knowledge of internal communication trends, including impact evaluation/measurement tools
