We have an exhilarating job opportunity for a ‘hot-shot’ Chief Marketing Officer at a well-loved, popular South African hospitality Group’s Cape Town HQ. Thrillingly, as CMO you will be mandated to “pivot these brands,” moving them into the new era of South Africa. As a ‘leader in your field,’ you will be tasked with developing strong Marketing strategies that deliver profitable turnover and growth. Responsibilities

Brand Value: Finance

  • Building and growing sustainable brands delivering profitable turnover and growth
  • Growing Turnover, EBIT% and ZAR, Profit Margin, % and ZAR
  • Achieve required ROI – (All media and marketing plans, Digital channel development, Events, sponsorships)
  • Growing market share

Brand Positioning

  • Building organisational sustainability through brand specific innovation and a customer centered approach
  • Growing customer base through understanding customer audiences across multiple brands and customised user-friendly loyalty programs
  • Provide customer engagement/satisfaction analyses and recommendations to stimulate innovation and change
  • Provide evidence-based solutions that focus on customer experience, growth and retention
  • Execute a media plan that increases share of voice and differentiates the various brands from competitors in similar markets

Brand Strategy and Plans Development

  • Develop and manage strategy execution and lead the full marketing function to deliver on organisational growth plans
  • Ensure the execution of Brand strategies by Brand managers
  • Building and maintaining an innovative easy to use marketplace platform frontend that focus on customer experience, growth and retention
  • Develop a strong media plan that increases share of voice and differentiates the various brands from competitors in similar markets
  • Develop and execute a Brand sponsorship strategy through events and sponsorships that delivers on organisational growth plans

Brand Governance

  • Develop & ensure Implementation of Marketing Control & Governance Systems relating to policies, business processes & management processes
  • EXCO member/Chairing Marketing Review Committee/IT Steering Committee member/Transformation and Social and Ethics committee and the company foundation (Founding Trustee)
  • Organisational representation with regards to GDPR/POPI/Advertising standards of SA

Brand Execution: People, Growth and Development

  • Instill a culture of performance, learning and development, building a strong, proactive, and agile team that delivers on organisational strategies
  • Clarifying and setting individual and team expectations that determines attention to detail and delivery on the execution of marketing plans
  • Implement a process that navigates and guides performance through feedback and measurement where required
  • Implementation of Personal Development Plans to ensure teams are skilled and competent to deliver on organisational expectations

Requirements

The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Tertiary qualification (3-year Degree or higher) and 10 to 15 years’ experience
  • Excellent communication skills (Written, verbal and modern marketing platforms)
  • MS Office Suite including Advanced Excel skills                    
  • Use of technology (Zoom, MS Teams, Magnetic, Monday.com etc.)                       
  • Analytical and Problem solving with regards to Business intelligence                     
  • Evidence based decision making                   
  • Management and Leadership            
  • Organisational level thinking and facilitation skills to influence and inform EXCO/Steering committees and other structures of governance              
  • FMCG and Food Service industry experience
  • Knowledge of and experience in Marketing and Corporate Communications strategies
  • Knowledge of and experience in Brand Building, PR and reputation management strategies
  • Knowledge of and experience in Market data and trend analyses including customer insights
  • Knowledge of and experience in Governance, regulatory, risk and compliance
  • Knowledge of and experience in Budgeting, Finance and Operational expenditure control
  • Knowledge of and experience in CRM and SEO tools like Google Analytics, Google AdWords, HubSpot, WebTrends etc.
  • Able to manage and Direct a full marketing function and large teams
  • Media management skills (Written, Radio, TV, Web etc.)
  • Service provider management experience (legal agreement management)
  • Understanding of Franchisee relationships
  • Experience with design briefs, concepts, and processes
  • Experience with agency management/traffic control/billing/reconciliation (Franchisees)
  • Grit/determination and resilience                
  • Having a degree of patience – Leading the organisation into adapting to new, modern, societal ideas and concepts              
  • Understanding societal challenges in the South African context                  
  • The ability to deal with media at a high level           
  • Financial and Business acumen/understanding and ownership of Profit & Loss
