  • Act as the strategic lead and brand custodian on the agency’s client brands
  • Articulate and interrogate client needs based on the brand and business strategy
  • Use research to create original and innovative insights and provide a high-quality interpretation of research findings
  • Understand commercial context of brand communication as well as the need to measure and track effectiveness
  • Understand ATL, BTL and digital channels to enable end-to-end solutions for clients
  • Liaise with strategic counterparts at partner agencies to ensure alignment and understanding of the strategy, as well as ensuring the various disciplines remain on track
  • Understand digital transformation and marketing automation in order to partner with specialists in this area
  • Work with and inspire the team to produce a clear and directional strategy that is founded on commercial and consumer insights
  • Guide the team beyond the brief through an in-depth understanding of client business needs as well as consumer needs
  • Write inspiring creative briefs
  • Develop, construct and present compelling strategies to clients
  • Develop clear and consistent digital and content strategies
  • Provide relevant target market insights across various consumer categories
  • Provide input into optimising the customer experience and ensuring brand consistency
  • Constantly monitor campaigns and projects to ensure they adherence to the set strategic direction
  • Analyse and interpret web traffic metrics and suggest solutions to boost web presence
  • Monitor SEO/SEM, marketing and sales performance metrics to forecast trends
  • Report on the performance of all campaigns
  • Constantly raise the standard of strategic output across all client accounts
  • Inspire a culture of strategic thinking and innovation throughout the strategy department and the wider agency
  • Lead and present the outcome of strategic work for new business pitches
  • Form direct relationships with key clients
  • Proactively monitor your clients’ brands and industries so that you are able to share with client and the team, positioning the agency as a thought leader and opening organic growth opportunities
  • Drive organic growth in partnership with Account Management
  • Problem-solve and be resourceful to tackle even the most unusual marketing briefs
  • Exercise strategic principles and structured thinking to tackle business development projects assigned by client and/or non-marketing communication briefs
  • Keep abreast of current trends and industry best practice.


The successful candidate must have/be:

  • A tertiary qualification is Marketing/Brand Communication
  • At least 6 years’ experience as TTL Strategist with 2 years as a Senior Strategist in an Advertising Agency
  • Proficient in MS Office (i.e. Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • TTL & Digital experience (essential)
  • Financial client experience is essential (multiple industry experience is expected – retail would be advantageous)
  • Experience with online marketing tools and practices
  • Experience in developing, managing and presenting solutions within a creative environment
  • Knowledge of and experience in web analytics tools like Google Analytics
  • Strong understanding of media strategy and planning
  • A good command of the English language (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Strong multitasking skills (able to work on multiple briefs at any given time)
