 We have a superb in-office opportunity for an experienced, Senior Operations Manager with Production and Traffic management skills to join the vibrant team at a dynamic, established Visual Communications Agency in Cape Town.
 
We are on the hunt for a highly skilled Operations Manager to report into the Managing Director, oversee production, streamline workflow, optimise resource planning and provide a transparent view at all times as to the outputs of the studio. In this role, you will make the agency’s studio of 40 individuals more efficient. You will be responsible for increasing output and maintaining high-quality standards.
 
This is a new role for the fast-growing agency, and we’re looking for a highly organised candidate with strong Advertising, Production and Traffic experience. Someone who  understands the production and creative processes in Studio, able to provide managerial oversight.
 
The agency specialises in creating engaging visual communication solutions tailored to the needs of large industrials. Their products include but are not limited to animated safety videos, visual guides, comic books, infographics, board games and interactive training modules.

Responsibilities
 
    • Track and improve studio processes and outputs.
    • Find bottlenecks in the studio and remove them.
    • Ensure the studio is a robust and can respond to growing briefs but runs efficiently.
    • Liaise with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate production needs and ensure delivery of creative assets, including animation, print, and digital content.
    • Hold overall responsibility for work management and associated software, ensuring all personnel consistently follow production systems, processes, and protocols to maintain efficiency and operational standards.
    • Ensure the on-time delivery of all creative outputs while maintaining rigorous quality control standards throughout the production process.
    • Collaborate closely with the creative, account management, and client service teams to provide operational insights for project success.
    • Monitor project progress and collaborate with creative leads and Account Managers to track resource utilisation.
    • Oversee the management of third-party service providers, including printers, translators, voice-over talent, and other vendors, ensuring smooth collaboration, quality output, and timely delivery of services.
 
 
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
 
    • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in production and traffic management within a creative agency or similar environment.
    • Strong understanding of the production process across various media, including animation, print, and digital.
    • Has previously (and successfully) implemented systems for tracking studio and personnel time and outputs.
    • Expertise in workflow optimisation, resource allocation, and project management tools.
    • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage stakeholder expectations.
    • A strong communicator and team player, with the ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
    • Experience managing external vendors and maintaining strong working relationships.
    • Strong analytical skills for tracking time, costs, and agency profitability.
