We have an outstanding, in-office opportunity for a skilled Mid-Senior Public Relations Manager to work in the Education sector at a renowned national private school based in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Public Relations professional to elevate brand presence and foster meaningful engagement with the school’s broader community and stakeholders. This hands-on role focuses on earned media and requires a candidate with prior PR agency or external PR experience in a corporate setting.
The ability to juggle multiple tasks, work at a fast pace, and take responsibility is key. Reporting to the Portfolio Manager: Special Projects, this exciting position also entails writing compelling content to support communication objectives.

Responsibilities
- Media Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts. Utilise a comprehensive media contact book to secure coverage and promote the brand and school initiatives.
- Campaign Development: Ideate, plan, and execute innovative PR campaigns that align with the company’s strategic pillars and values.
- Content Creation: Write compelling press releases and copy (as required different platforms), articles, and promotional materials that effectively communicate our positioning within the independent school market, school and/or brand achievements.
- Project Management: Lead PR projects from conception to execution, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, admissions, digital, and curriculum management, to ensure cohesive messaging and branding.
- Event Management: Conceptualise, organise and manage media and/or stakeholder events that enhance the brand’s positioning.
- Reporting: Monitor and analyse media coverage and PR campaign effectiveness, providing regular reports to senior management.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations at a PR or communications agency, preferably within the education or similar sector.
- Proven track record of successful media relations and campaign management.
- Media Savvy: Deep understanding of media landscape and trends.
- Relationship Builder: Excellent interpersonal skills to foster relationships with media, stakeholders, and the community.
- Experience of and engagement with media monitoring tools.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills.
- A solid understanding of all marketing disciplines be it digital, design, branding.
- Above average use of Microsoft Office tools Word, PowerPoint and Excel and other apps like SmartSheet and PowerBi, but training will be provided thereon.
- Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- A healthy respect for deadlines and budgets
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. No egos.
- Confidence, positive disposition and outgoing personality without being obnoxious or arrogant.
- Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
