Social Media Specialist: Renowned Global Homeware Brand –  Hybrid, Somerset West

Content kings and queens look sharp! We have a captivating hybrid opportunity for a dynamic and energetic mid-weight Social Media Specialist to join the Marketing & Content team at a renowned, global homeware brand in Somerset West.

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for the management, planning, and programming of all Social Media activities. This includes the creation and implementation of programmes that grow existing communities, engage new consumers, and drive these consumers from conversation to conversion. It also includes the management of reactive Social communications, translating consumer comments and feedback received via listening tools, customer services, etc., into response actions.

We’re looking for an engaged and engaging Social Media practitioner to take this luxury homeware brand to the next level on their social platforms. In particular, TikTok experience will give you the edge as the brand is looking to make an impression (see what we did there?) on the platform. Experience on Pinterest and Facebook are also vital to this role. They are also growing Threads, so a knowledge of how to leverage this platform will be advantageous.

While this role is responsible for managing Content by briefing the studio, it is important that you are also able to write captions and shoot video Content if required. You should be a hands-on self-starter who is able to hit the ground running.

The successful candidate is confident communicating in the brand’s voice, customising messages to platforms, and generally directing Social Media conversations to positive conclusions. The role is central to the delivery of a refined and positive consumer experience supporting the company’s premium positioning, and ultimately is a key contributor to the consumer acquisition and retention efforts required to hit annual financial growth targets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive consumer engagement and social community growth via the delivery of compelling and relevant content that is optimised for each platform
  • Assist in creating engaging social media content, including captions, requiring an element of copywriting skill. e.g., visiting retail boutique stores to film content around a new product
  • Scheduling of content, and ad hoc posting as and when required (including after-hours/weekends/public holidays)
  • Identify problems or concerns being voiced by consumers and to recommend paths forward to resolution. This will often involve coordination with Customer Services but not always
  • Recommending responses to potentially difficult questions from consumers. Deciding when to engage in social media forums and when to walk away
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to support paid social programming
  • Coordinate social media content and messaging programs for retail marketing management and wholesale to support exclusive product launches and major initiatives
  • Identify and execute an influencer program in order to generate content
  • Monitor and report key social media analytics, identifying pathways to monetisation and other KPIs
  • Recommend, develop, and launch new social media platforms and programmes as they become relevant to consumers – be the expert on what’s next
  • Define internal tools and communication processes to raise alerts or share information with proper channels when social media issues start trending
  • Support new social media technologies – e.g., Facebook Live, streaming, etc.
  • Coordinate training with internal teams relevant to social media engagement best practices
  • Provide support in the planning, coordination, and management of events.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field – preferred
  • 5+ years of proven Marketing experience, preferably in retail or other retail consumer goods related category (luxury FMCG/Retail brands are ideal)
  • A demonstrated knowledge of the branded consumer goods marketplace and the practices employed to propel a business forward
  • Experience building brand engagement on Social Media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads)
  • Experience with content production supporting premium lifestyle brands
  • Experience coordinating projects with agencies – ability to identify priorities, deliver on time and on budget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to brief in great content as well as being able to create it when necessary
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to speak for company to consumers and to de-escalate situations
  • Ability to multitask and recommend decisions
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to present ideas to target consumers in brand correct and engaging tone
  • Hands on, energetic, and a self-starter
  • Good visual eye
  • Young mindset.
