Marketing Manager – Marketing, Public Relations / Corporate Communications

We have an exciting on-site maternity leave cover contract opportunity available for an experienced Senior Marketing & Communications Manager to join the Marketing team at a financial services company based in Cape Town.
The Marketing Manager will be responsible for managing and executing marketing initiatives to support the business. The role requires a strategic thinker who can drive brand positioning, client communications, campaign management, and event execution, ensuring consistent delivery in line with the company’s brand and business objectives during the maternity cover period.
As Marketing Manager, you should have a deep understanding of the institutional investment market in South Africa. We’re looking for someone familiar with Marketing and PR and very comfortable dealing with C-Suite executives. You will also be responsible for managing the Marketing team and must therefore be effective in ensuring all department deliverables are met timeously.

Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Planning
- Executing on the planned marketing strategies aligned with the firm’s business objectives.
- Continuing to ensure the brand is positioned as a trusted partner and thought leader for institutional investors (pension funds, corporates, consultants, etc.).
- Monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and client needs to inform marketing decisions and planning.
- Continuing to drive and grow brand presence online.
Brand Management
- Ensuring consistent brand messaging across all owned channels and touchpoints.
- Overseeing the creation of all content, including but not limited to: thought leadership; market commentary; client communications; social media posts; event collateral; video content; marketing collateral; and fund reports.
PR & Media
- Managing and nurturing PR and media relationships relevant to the institutional investment market and broader financial services sector.
- PR crises management.
- Distributing company news and announcements
- Managing PR process end-to-end: media monitoring essential and understanding etiquette on handling journalists.
Speaking Engagements
- Overseeing and signing off on speaking engagements that present itself (earned and paid).
Advertising
- Managing and signing off on all ad hoc and campaign advertising.
- Managing advertising budget.
Sponsorship
- Renewing agreements with the relevant industry bodies.
- Reviewing and approving costs.
Campaigns & Lead Generation
- Continuing to deliver on the planned marketing campaigns to support business development (sales and distribution) and client engagement.
- Continuing to implement digital marketing initiatives, including website management, email campaigns, and social media.
- Continuing to track and report on campaign performance.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborating with the business development (sales and distribution) and investment teams to support and enhance client engagement activities.
- Overseeing the planning and coordination of events, conferences, webinars, and roadshows. Overseeing the production of high-quality client-facing presentations and support materials.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensuring all marketing materials comply with FSCA regulations, FAIS requirements, and internal approval processes.
- Maintaining strong relationships with legal and compliance teams.
Marketing Operations
- Ensuring each function within the department is functioning efficiently and delivering quality outputs.
- Ensuring departmental deadlines are delivered on time.
- Ensuring each function is following process.
- Ensuring stakeholders within the business follow the relative department processes.
Team & Budget Management
- Managing the internal marketing team. Conducting KPI reviews and feedback; Conducting regular check-ins with team members for course correction, two-way feedback, track development progress; Maintaining and uphold the team culture
- Managing external agencies and creative suppliers. o Managing the marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery.
- Approving supplier and service provider payments.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (Postgraduate qualification advantageous).
- Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in a Marketing management role within institutional asset management, investment management, or financial services.
- Strong understanding of the institutional investor landscape in South Africa (pension funds, retirement funds, consultants).
- Experience with Digital Marketing platforms (CRM, email Marketing and automation, analytics).
- Proven track record in overseeing content creation, campaign management, and event management.
- Good stakeholder management and the ability to work collaboratively with sales, investment, and compliance teams.
- Used to dealing with C Suite level Executives
- Data focused, with experience in measuring campaign performance.
- Familiar with Marketing and PR
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Planner, MS SharePoint, and digital marketing tools.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Excellent people management skills, and able to lead a team effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external clients.
- Ability to work under high pressure and manage multiple priorities
