We’re on the hunt for a meticulous Mid-weight Content Editor/Writer to join the in-house Marketing team of a respected Cape Town-based financial services company for this hybrid role.
Tailor-made for a switched-on wordsmith with financial services writing experience, this exciting opportunity is ideal for someone who knows their way around fund reports, bios, brochures, press releases and branded collateral like a seasoned pro.
You’ll need an eagle eye for detail, a knack for juggling multiple projects, and the interpersonal finesse to coordinate with various internal departments. While this isn’t a hugely creative role, it calls for a candidate who thrives on accuracy, consistency, and clear communication. Someone who’s comfortable managing the content process from draft to delivery. Responsibilities
- Proofreading and editing: bi-annual and quarterly fund reports; job specs; client mailer test emails; events and webinars: invitations, blurbs, post-event summaries; and copy for design work e.g. calendars, invites, and exhibition stands.
- Compiling Marketing collateral – brochures, reports and other documents required for marketing the business and its keynote funds.
- Writing Staff bios for the investment team and others when required: Compile bios of new staff from the HR staff model; and Ensure all existing bios are updated at least once annually.
- Writing Style guide: collaborate with the Content Specialist to keep this relevant and up to date.
- Writing client letters, press releases, holding statements and ensuring letterheads are kept up-to-date and reflect any board changes.
- Develop and formalise optimal editing processes and service-level agreements with other teams in the business
- Back up the Content Specialist when necessary and fill in where needed.
- Analyse and adapt source information and research findings to the context concerned.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Bachelor’s degree with an English major; or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Journalism, or equivalent communications qualification.
- Minimum of 8 years’ writing experience, preferably in financial services where writing, proofreading and compiling reports were the primary activities.
- Journalism, financial or publishing background would be beneficial.
- Powerful wordsmith: proficient in long and short copy, corporate letter writing, report writing and compilation.
- Basic understanding of financial markets and the asset management industry.
- Effectively prioritise projects and tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent planning and organising skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Inclination for collaboration and teamwork.
