We have a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented Cape Town based Mid-Weight Content Writer & Communications Coordinator to join the Marketing team at an established financial services company in Cape Town.
 
We are on the hunt for a highly motivated Content & Communications Coordinator with solid writing capabilities, strong project management skills, and is an ace at the execution of content strategy and digital reporting.
Written Content includes report writing as well as event invites, press releases, client letters,  and articles etc. It is vital that you have written for financial services and understand the content. You must be able to proofread and edit. You’ll also need to be proficient in an email package, ideally Acoustic or CRM365.
 
In this role you will be responsible for championing the brand in various strategic initiatives and ensure that its attributes (trust, honesty, doing good, authenticity, etc.) are shared with stakeholders through strategic, purpose-driven marketing content that is relevant, memorable, and adds value to their investments/financial decisions and increases their understanding.
 
We are looking for a genuine team player, someone able to drive deadlines and liaise with internal and external stakeholders with confidence. You should be a strong individual and a good communicator.

Responsibilities
 
    • Providing communications support to the business, which includes – coordinating speaking opportunities; and Managing and continually evolving all company communication that meets the clients’ needs, expectations and builds the brand.
    • Continuously developing and managing core communication channels to drive effective internal and external two-way communications and engagement.
    • Serving as a content manager for written and video content.
    • Developing content strategy with the Marketing Manager
    • Responsibility for management of the content strategy
    • Writing and editing web articles, social media posts , client letters, emails and press releases
    • Responsibility for managing freelance writers and internal writers
    • Developing briefs for video content, and overseeing production and editing
    • Script writing for video content where needed
    • Managing the video studio.
    • Managing and overseeing the production of marketing material including monthly/quarterly reports.
    • Managing various PR processes and relationships to expose our brand to our target market and broader public audience in line with business and sales objectives.
 
 
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
 
    • Bachelor’s Degree with an English major or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or equivalent communications qualification
    • 3-5 years’ work experience in a similar role in the financial sector
    • Excellent project management skills
    • Creative and technical wordsmithing – writing and editing are essential skills for this role
    • Proficiency in using MS 365, One Drive, Acoustic or another email package
    • Experience in writing for financial markets is essential, with good technical understanding of the asset management and banking sector environment would be advantageous
    • Editorial skills – proofreading, grammar checking and copywriting
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write for a variety of media
    • High client-centricity with the ability to work to tight deadlines in a changing working environment
    • Crisis and incident management communications experience
    • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple work streams at once
    • Attention to detail and accuracy are crucial
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
    • Self-starter who is able to plan, organise and take initiative to meet departmental/job objectives and deadlines independently
    • Ability to articulate complex issues in a simple way
    • Ability to work in a pressurised environment
    • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and people.
