The National Culture Marketing Manager has the overall strategic and operative responsibility for the Opinion Leader & Culture Events programme in their region. Translating the global culture marketing strategy into a national strategy for Nigeria and creating a locally relevant and innovative programme are the key tasks.
The successful candidate will be dynamic, have Nigerian experience, and is strong in Events with a focus on music and dance. Perhaps you are Nigerian working outside of the country looking to come back home. The Culture Marketing Manager works in a team and reports to the National Marketing Manager. You will have no direct reports into you.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong network of artists and creative Opinion Leaders. You will also be required to develop new concepts and ideas, evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the Brand’s existing programmes and align closely with their media business entities.
Your work in this role will contribute to the overall national marketing and business goals in-line with the set international culture marketing strategy. So, it would serve you well to have both agency and client-side experience.
While this job is based in Lagos, there will be travel to Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Responsibilities
Culture Projects & Programmes
- Translate the International Culture Strategy into event programmes and concepts relevant in the country.
- Create and execute high quality events of all scales and leverage international projects and programmes.
- Establish and run long-term culture and music platforms as stand-alone or part of a global initiative.
- Plan and realise efficient branding strategies for Brand projects, and 3rd Party events.
- Ensure efficient logistic and event tools handling.
- Generate an efficient 3rd party events programme.
- Identify Best Practice Examples and develop case studies.
- Manage partnership and sponsorship negotiations.
- Negotiate and secure relevant music rights to ensure all created content can be sufficiently utilised via our media business.
- Work closely together with sales, communications and brand department.
Artist Programme/Opinion Leader
- Translate the culture strategy into a national Artist/Opinion Leader programme.
- Establish a rich network in the fields of culture in general and music in particular to be aware of new upcoming trends and movements.
- Establish a strong portfolio of key artists to work with on various projects and programmes within the Brand’s “world”.
- Take care of an optimum usage of the product in focused cultured playgrounds by Opinion Leaders and secure a perfect communication about the brand and the product.
- Drive “Can in hand” and product placement with key artists and in defined key areas.
- Negotiate with artists and labels on cooperation deals.
- Negotiate and secure relevant music rights to ensure all created content can be sufficiently utilised via the media business.
Quality Control & Return on Investment
- Evaluating the results and final outcomes/impact of all activities.
- Documenting all activities in a comprehensive way and creating case studies where applicable.
- Surveying the proper appearance of the Brand in all areas of entertainment/culture and business.
- Ensuring a qualitative approach and evaluation of all opinion leader activities.
- Budget responsibility of the total national Culture Marketing budget.
Strategic Responsibility for the Culture Programme
- Contribute reaching all national marketing and sales targets.
- Create and maintain an outstanding artist/opinion leader network.
- Deliver culture and music projects and platforms where adequate.
- Contribute to the Brand’s worldwide success due to innovation and unique content.
People & Knowledge Management
- Work closely with On Premise, Communications and Brand department in constant alignment on all key measurements and activities.
- Identifies Best Practice examples and develops case studies in combination with International teams for the field.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
- University Degree or multiple years of working experience in a professional business environment.
- Working experience, ideally in a music/culture related environment, allowing a vast understanding of the culture landscape.
- Nigerian experience – essential.
- Strong events experience with a focus on music and dance.
- Experience in dealing with artists and related entities (labels, management, etc.)
- Strong management skills, working with a team of specialists, leading external agencies/freelancers.
- Experience working agency and client side – ideal
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
- Interested and open to different cultural playgrounds. Creative and innovative mindset, open for new things.
- Well-connected in different culture scenes and environments – a good networker.
- Clear understanding of global entertainment, music and culture industry, as well as a firm understanding of the youth culture market and scenes in the country.
- Fluency in English.
- 25% travel to Abuja and Port Harcourt.
