We have an in-office opportunity for an experienced and strategically minded Marketing Director at a renowned Multinational Construction/Consumer/Industrial and DIY product brand based in Cape Town.
This is a high-impact executive leadership role for a commercially astute marketer with deep experience gained within a large multinational environment, ideally across DIY, construction, industrial products, adhesives, chemicals, or related consumer sectors.
Leading a team of marketing professionals, you’ll take ownership of the strategic marketing direction across multiple brands, technologies, and regions – driving both revenue growth and long-term market expansion.
Operating at both strategic and operational levels, you’ll oversee the full marketing ecosystem: from product positioning, go-to-market strategy, innovation pipelines, and market expansion through to campaign execution, trade marketing, digital performance, PR, and customer engagement. The role requires a strong balance of commercial thinking, analytical capability, and executional oversight, ensuring marketing initiatives deliver measurable business impact across both B2B and B2C channels.
Working closely with local leadership, global marketing teams, R&D, sales, product development, and operational stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in identifying emerging market opportunities, shaping growth strategies, and supporting the rollout of new technologies, applications, and products.

Responsibilities
- Strategy: Develop business strategies and long-term growth plan (by category, technology and by region). Oversee execution of all marketing campaigns, initiatives, and collateral to maximise revenue impact.
- Adjust strategy based on performance, market shifts, and emerging opportunities.
- New Business Development: Drive new business development with delivery of targeted growth and profit objectives in close collaboration with regional and functional peers.
- Recognise market needs (existing and emerging) and voice of customer (VOC) to develop new business opportunities
- Steer performance evolution and NPD customer pipeline by category, by technology and by region for chosen initiatives.
- Develop strategies utilising research feedback e.g., new product launches/packaging designs.
- Analyse data and identify opportunities utilising various data e.g., AC Nielsens, Spar Insights, local market knowledge etc.
- Technical Aptitude: Ensure technical specifications on product application are followed In the guidelines of the TDS and MSDSs in collaboration with R&D
- Ensure all legal brand awareness is executed in line with local and international standards
- Management of Brand IP, Trademarks & Legal Compliance
- Liaise with Internal Stakeholders: Liaise and communicate with all internal and external functions i.e. Manufacturing, New Product Development, Finance, Packaging Suppliers, Sales, Distribution etc. to successfully roll out the development and distribution of new products and pack changes.
- Identification of innovation opportunities and drive acceleration of project delivery.
- Support commercialisation of new market opportunities, technologies and products.
- Branding & Communication: Leverage local and international brands.
- Project manage brand communication strategy.
- Identify and develop PR strategy for all brands.
- Trade Marketing & Sales: Provide the various channels with optimum shopper campaigns and POS solutions through understanding of various trade channels and shopper behaviours.
- Formulate merchandising strategies and develop tactical promotions through all channels targeting both consumer and customer.
- Influence sales forecasting based on promotions and category trends.
- Project manage trade marketing from a strategic and activation perspective using pricing parameters and structures.
- Budget management: Plan, manage, and optimise the marketing budget in line with channel turnover to ensure high-quality execution, cost discipline, and measurable return on investment.
- Digital marketing & demand generation: Develop and manage SEO strategy in collaboration with global and external agencies. Analyse campaign performance, digital trends, and market insights to inform ongoing optimisation.
- Own local digital strategy in line with international strategy.
- People leadership & development: Manage a diverse team of professionals by driving motivation, accountability and allowing ownership of key KPIs, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, purposeful marketing function.
- Lead, coach and develop the marketing team to deliver high impact results with the brands’ core values in mind.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide regular feedback, and support career development.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Tertiary degree in Marketing, Business administration or a related field.
- At least 10-15 years’ experience heading up Marketing, preferably within a large global multi-national company.
- Demonstrated experience in scoping and conducting quantitative and qualitative market studies.
- Awareness of key trends, customers, competitors in DIY/Consumer and Industrial Adhesives Business Units together with adjacent markets (Construction, Retail, Manufacturing etc.)
