Packaging Specialist – Marketing, Brand Manager – Marketing, Branding and Packaging

We have an in-office opportunity for a dynamic, Mid-weight Brand Manager to support and assist the Marketing Department at a leading manufacturer in the décor hardware sector based in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs.
 
In this Packaging-focussed role you will be involved in new product development, the evolution of existing packaging and working with the Technical Manager. You will be responsible for implementing the Brand Strategy across Packaging, Marketing at Retail, printed collateral, colour Marketing material, Corporate Identity, Digital, and other Marketing collateral that may be required.
 
You will need to develop good working relationships with internal departments, Sales Team, and various suppliers. The retail environment requires strategic, creative and practical skills for the creation and implementation of projects. Are you up to the challenge? Apply today!
 
 
Responsibilities
 
    • Identifying new marketing opportunities, strategy and implementation for the Portfolio of products/ranges
    • Ensuring brand uniformity and consistency against master style guide
    • Budget and cost management
    • Research and store visits to understand the environment: customer journey, competitor analysis, outside the category
    • Project management
    • New product development and launch new products
    • Packaging including:
    •       New and existing products, product research, product positioning, name generation and trademarks, packaging briefs, packaging concept, brand visual language, product architecture and hierarchy, prototyping and testing, technical data sheets/product information, packaging guidelines, design and typesetting approvals, packaging legislation and compliance approvals, barcode management, pack shots/renders and image library, packaging processes and systems, product training presentations;
    •       Packaging specifications, supplier and container selection, print process, dyelines, print specifications, costings, delivery of new products and artwork transitions, management of artwork files
    • Colour marketing material including: Colour analysis, trends and consultations to ensure paint colours are contemporary, on-trend and relevant both internationally and locally; Colour ranges including main colour range, curated colour palettes and colour schemes; Management of colour targets; Colour sampling:  Stripe cards, fan decks, brochures and colour cards, wet sampling and other colour marketing; Other elements relating to our colour wall
    • Develop and implement marketing plans and campaigns for portfolio – select relevant touchpoints and channels with an omnichannel approach across digital, video marketing, advertising and marketing at retail, to create an inviting, streamlined and confident in-store experience from colour and brochures, to point of sale and signage
    • Corporate Identity, including managing logo files and style guide, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environment Sustainability, stationery (printed & electronic), price lists, name badges, product information sheets, sponsorships and collaborations
    • Management of Intellectual Property
    • Maintaining a strong working relationship with our Sales Director and Sales Team – input, buy in, marketing instructions, sales tools
    • Cross-functionality coordinating with internal departments for input, buy in etc.  Including technical team, factory, warehouse, finance, buying
    • Liaising with stockists when necessary
    • Management of suppliers – from sourcing new suppliers and briefing to production, delivery and quality control.
 
 
 
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field (a postgraduate qualification is a plus)
    • Minimum 6-10 years’ experience in marketing – FMCG or consumer goods industry preferred
    • Experience in packaging is essential.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
    • Qualification or interest in Interior Design is advantageous.
    • Ability to work independently under the leadership of Marketing Manager
    • A proactive, hardworking, dedicated and honest individual with initiative and enthusiasm
    • Exceptional project management skills – ability to manage multiple “urgent” jobs
    • Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
    • Hands on approach
    • Willingness to learn
    • Team player who enjoys working with people and good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Able to travel occasionally when required for projects (predominantly to JHB – normally 1-day visits).
