We’re looking for a PR guru who can implement and execute communications activities to enhance the client’s positioning as a leader in South African Media and Digital PR.
You will be the key in shaping the agency’s client’s reputation and profile across Paid, Owned, Shared, and Earned media. You’ll achieve this with strong Advertorials/Marketing (Paid), website, blogs, newsletters (Owned), Social Media (Shared) and solid media relations (Earned).

Responsibilities
- Monitor for upcoming key events and awards for publicity opportunities.
- Coordinate interviews and manage media at client events and campaigns.
- Outline content distribution timelines and media targets.
- Daily point of contact with key media.
- Develop industry, sector, and product PR campaigns.
- Manage the needs of the client and their accounts.
- Contribute to daily meetings and liaise and update clients on activities.
- Keep abreast of current PR/News/Media and Social Media trends and tools.
- Build client relationships and maintain a network of media contacts including journalists and industry spokespeople.
- Spearhead both traditional PR and new media (ex. podcasts) opportunities.
- Develop news angles, stories, and pitches to further the client’s profile, products, and services.
- Analyse, track and report coverage in written reports on a monthly and quarterly basis and after campaigns.
- Be involved in pitching for new business and developing PR proposals.
- Manage a high level of client interaction.
- Manage and mentor junior members of staff.
- You will help oversee one large corporate account and smaller agency (ad-hoc) projects.
- Daily and monthly analysis and reporting is critical client ‘share of voice’ results and targets.
- Forward planning for thematic moments to share FYIs and suggest newsjacking and commentary opportunities.
- Provide strategic counsel and creative ideas/activations to client to aid their PR and wider marketing campaigns.
- Conduct content sessions with clients for insights to inform press releases, thought leadership articles, and interview opportunities.
- Provide comment and product/or company information to the media (newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and online news sites).
- Build relationships with key media contacts to ensure personalised and targeted outreach
- Liaise with clients regarding press campaigns, creative projects and PR solutions.
- Deliver innovative and creative ideas
- Brief suppliers (graphic artists/writers/videographers/photographers).
- Track and monitor press coverage.
- Time tracking through timesheets.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
- +Four years industry experience and PR agency experience.
- A passion for corporate and tech PR.
- Excellent client relationship and project management skills – available on speed dial for this demanding account.
- Good writing and proof-reading skills. This includes lengthy industry reports, social media for high profile executives, advertorials, and client reporting.
- Strong copywriting and understanding of Marketing.
- Aptitude to build a network of influencers and industry press relations.
- PR pitching and strong media connections in SA.
- Strong communications skills – both presentation, verbal and written skills.
- Interpersonal and soft skills experience.
- A passion and knowledge of the traditional media landscape, including social media.
- Flair for creativity and strategic thinking.
- Commercially aware and business savvy.
- Good industry knowledge and experience in building influential networks.
- Solid computer prowess and project management skills.
- Outstanding organisation with an ability to manage multiple projects and portfolios.
- Service focused and sensitive to confidential information.
- Self-starter, ambitious, efficient, hardworking, a dedicated team player.
- Able to work fast, prioritise effectively, and multitask.
