SENIOR PR ACCOUNT MANAGER / JUNIOR PR ACCOUNT DIRECTOR: CONSUMER & LIFESTYLE BRANDS

We have an exciting hybrid opportunity for a Senior PR Account Manager / Junior PR Account Director to join a creative Cape Town PR & Communications agency, working across a portfolio of consumer and lifestyle brands.

We’re looking for someone who understands that great PR goes well beyond press releases. You’ll bring a genuine passion for media, news and popular culture, along with the ability to connect the dots between PR, brand strategy, social media, content, events and the wider marketing landscape.

As a key client contact, you’ll work closely with account executives and project managers to drive campaigns from planning through to delivery, manage client relationships, meet deadlines and campaign KPIs, and contribute to new business opportunities. You’ll also guide and mentor junior team members, helping them develop their media relations and account management skills.

Here’s where you’ll make your mark

• Manage day-to-day client relationships, developing a thorough understanding of their businesses, brands and communication objectives.

• Plan, coordinate and deliver integrated PR campaigns, events and brand activations, ensuring agreed objectives, deadlines and KPIs are met.

• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media contacts and influencers, identifying opportunities to secure meaningful coverage and engagement.

• Develop compelling content across traditional and digital channels, including press releases, blog posts, social media content and campaign materials.

• Oversee social media content calendars and content production, coordinating creative suppliers for visual, video and other campaign assets.

• Manage projects from research and planning through to execution, including presentations, supplier coordination, budgets and costings.

• Monitor campaign performance, prepare status reports and evaluate media and online results.

• Mentor junior team members, supporting their development in media relations, client servicing and account management.

• Contribute to new business pitches, creative ideas and additional client projects as required.

What you’ll bring to the table

• 4–5 years’ relevant agency experience in PR, marketing, advertising or communications.

• Proven experience in client relationship management, PR campaigns, events, activations and social media planning.

• Strong media relations skills, with established traditional media relationships and proven placement results being an advantage.

• Experience working with social media influencers, including engagement and relationship management.

• A solid understanding of the broader marketing landscape, including digital, branding, content and social media.

• Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills, with the confidence to engage clients and present ideas.

• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a collaborative approach to working with teams.

• Exceptional organisation, attention to detail, project management and budgeting skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

• A creative, energetic and proactive approach, with a genuine interest in media, news, popular culture and marketing trends.

• Confidence, initiative and the ability to remain calm under pressure, take ownership and get stuck in without the ego.
