Capture. Click. Connect. We have a stylish on-site opportunity for a fashion-forward Mid-Weight Social Media Specialist & Product Photographer to join the marketing team at a hip and happening fashion retail brand based in Midrand, Johannesburg.

This role is all about balancing smart strategy with standout visuals. As the go-to social voice for the brand, you’ll lead the full content calendar across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn: planning, posting, and engaging with an ever-growing fashion-forward audience. You’ll bring the brand to life with compelling visuals, engaging captions, and a finger on the pulse of trends and pop culture.
But it’s not just about the feed, it’s also about the frame. Your creativity behind the camera will help capture product photography for both social media and e-commerce, with the brand providing equipment to support your shoot days. Experience with fashion photography is a plus, as are design skills to help ensure everything you create is scroll-stopping and on-brand.
You’ll collaborate closely with a dynamic marketing team, contribute ideas, and see them through from concept to post. Please note: Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a creative assessment to demonstrate both photography and editing skills.
Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Planning
- Take full ownership of the social media content strategy, ensuring it aligns with the brand’s goals and target audience.
- Develop and maintain a detailed social media content calendar for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn, incorporating promotions, trends, and key campaign milestones.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Lead to strategise and innovate ways to grow social media presence and engagement.
Content Creation & Design
- Design and develop visually compelling and brand-appropriate content for all social media platforms.
- Stay up to date with design tools and trends, utilising software like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other relevant design tools.
- Conceptualise and execute photoshoots, ensuring content aligns with the brand identity and current trends.
- Create engaging videos, reels, and TikToks that resonate with the target audience.
Social Media Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of all social media accounts, ensuring consistent posting schedules and audience engagement.
- Handle all online customer queries and comments promptly and professionally, providing excellent customer service.
- Monitor social media trends and recommend strategies to remain relevant and competitive.
LinkedIn Content Creation
- Develop LinkedIn-appropriate content for business updates, corporate milestones, and industry-related topics to enhance the brand’s professional image.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the marketing team to align social media content with broader campaigns and branding strategies.
- Proactively propose ideas for social media shoots and content themes to ensure timely execution.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Degree advantageous but not essential
- Social Media Leadership: Ability to lead content strategy and calendar planning independently.
- Design Expertise: Proficiency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Canva, or similar. – Advantageous.
- Creativity: Ability to generate fresh, engaging, and on-trend content ideas.
- Social Media Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
- Customer Service: Strong written communication skills to handle online queries professionally.
- Trend Awareness: Passion for fashion and staying current with social media and industry trends.
- Energy and Initiative: Proactive, enthusiastic, and a self-starter eager to elevate the brand.
- Photography: Technical ability to take product photography for marketing purposes and for use on the brand’s online store, in addition to the photography requirements related to social media content creation.
- Previous fashion photography experience is advantageous.
