Copywriter: Global Homeware Brand – Hybrid, Somerset West

We have a tempting, hybrid opportunity for an innovative and conceptual mid-senior Copywriter to join the team at a renowned, global homeware brand’s Somerset West HQ!

The main purpose of this exciting role is to create on-brand, persuasive written content for various Marketing and Advertising materials. You’ll be responsible for leading and managing projects, ensuring the high-quality output, and contributing to the overall brand messaging. You will also oversee a mid-weight Copywriter.

Our successful candidate is highly organised with a meticulous attention to detail.

The role is a mix of ‘creative’ as well as ‘functional’ copy – you’ll be writing for a combination of digital, and some print, but the majority of the work is digital. Importantly, they’re looking for a truly conceptual writer. The work itself will include landing pages, mailers, social copy, google ads, as well as POS, catalogues, brochures, etc.

We’re looking for someone who has experience with all copy disciplines but you must be au fait with writing for SEO and able to compile metadata. As Senior Copywriter in this position you will write for both South Africa as well as their global divisions and will also be responsible for proofreading and editing.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the brand’s strategic messaging and drive impactful communication.
  • Present and pitch creative concepts and messaging, articulating the strategy behind the work.
  • Collaborate and brainstorm with the marketing team, designers, and other stakeholders to execute effective content strategies and campaigns.
  • Develop creative and compelling copy for various marketing channels and platforms, including but not limited to: Web pages, blog posts, emailers, social media, PPC, press releases, print POS (brochures, flyers), print editorial/adverts, video, and radio scripts, etc.
  • Lead and manage multiple copywriting projects from concept creation to final execution, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and deadlines.
  • Have a proactive mindset to identify opportunities within each brief to develop work that’s clutter-breaking and stands out from competitor brands.
  • Edit and proofread copy to ensure grammar, spelling, and brand consistency.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, target audience, and product knowledge to create accurate and engaging content.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to direct reports, reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with SEO specialists to optimize copy for search engine visibility and keyword targeting.
  • Ad hoc assistance as and when required.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Tertiary qualification in English, Copywriting, Communications, Marketing, or Journalism
  • Proven experience as a Copywriter, preferably in a senior or lead role. Experience writing for premium lifestyle brands – advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of the English language and proper grammar
  • Deep understanding of marketing and advertising principles
  • Attention to detail with excellent proofreading skills
  • Strong creative thinking
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and according to deadlines
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience in optimising copy for search engines
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and their respective best practices for copywriting
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • High on professionalism and able to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Microsoft Office Suite (proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook expected) – essential
  • Proofreading tools e.g., Grammarly, Hemingway – essential
  • Copy.ai or other AI writing models – advantageous
  • Task management software e.g., Trello, Asana – advantageous
  • Social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) – advantageous
  • SEO tools e.g., SEMrush.
