Mid-Weight Integrated Designer: NPO: Children’s Healthcare – Part Time, Cape Town

In this role, the Designer plays a pivotal role in designing fluently across multi channels and platforms. You’ll be designing annual reports, print advertisements, event marketing collateral, social media collateral, brochures, some exposure to motion design/animation etc. will be handy.

The successful candidate will have the experience to determine the best approach to overall fundraising design application and have developed a maturity to adapt to the internal culture and environment of the organisation and its team.

Responsibilities

  • Create Visual Concepts: Develop visual concepts and designs for various digital and print materials, including websites, social media graphics, marketing collateral, branding materials, packaging, and more.
  • Utilise Design Software: Use design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, CANVA) and other relevant tools to create and manipulate graphics, illustrations, and layouts. Have sound knowledge and experience of how to access and maintain design admin.
  • Digital Design:  Digital platforms to ensure intuitive navigation and optimal user engagement and create banners digital platforms and the website.
  • Print Design: Create print-ready designs for materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, business cards, signage, and other promotional materials, adhering to printing specifications and requirements.
  • Brand Identity Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of brand identities by creating logos, brand guidelines, visual assets, and marketing materials that align with the brand’s values and objectives.
  • Typography, Layout Design, and Iconography: Select appropriate typefaces, creating typographic compositions, and designing layouts that effectively communicate messages and enhance readability across various mediums. Create icons, and graphics to complement design concepts and enhance visual communication in digital and print materials.
  • Motion Graphics: Design motion graphics, video elements for digital platforms.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks on design deliverables and the organisation’s communication to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to their brand guidelines and design specifications.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have/be:

  • A recognised qualification in graphic design, as well as a thorough understanding of branding, marketing, and advertising principles
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in graphic design
  • Courses in design principles, typography, colour theory, digital design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), animation (advantages), HTML and other relevant subjects are commonly included in graphic design programs
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising tasks, adhering to timelines and budgets, an effectively communicating projects status and updates
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Design user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) for websites – will be advantageous
  • Animations, and, including animated logos, video intros/outros, social media animations, and other dynamic visual content– advantageous.
